Once they're over your face you can turn them on and off. I'm in the mission Frontline and just picked up the first set of night vision goggles. Guide not helping? It says in the description "a mix of night vision and heat vision" or something along the lines. (set of 9) Though to a blessedly lesser degree than in Metro 2033, your vision is constantly under assault, and this is most true when scrapping in a melee. thanks for pointing that out because I thought it looked like it should open. When a filter is getting close to being used up, your vision is obscured, mostly around the edges.
